A custom oral appliance for diagnosed obstructive sleep apnea, made in coordination with your sleep physician.
Book an appointmentSleep apnea is a sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly pauses overnight. Obstructive sleep apnea, the common form, is caused by blockage of the airway: the tongue rolling back into the throat, or airway tissues collapsing.
Untreated, it is associated with serious conditions including heart disease, high blood pressure and liver problems. It is not a snoring problem with a medical footnote.
How this practice fits in
Diagnosis belongs to a sleep physician. LAL Dental works alongside your physician: they diagnose and determine whether an oral appliance is appropriate, and we design, make and fit a custom appliance that holds the jaw in a position that keeps the airway open through the night.
Fitting matters more than it sounds. An appliance is worn every night for years, against a bite that has to remain comfortable in the morning. That is prosthodontic work.
