Testing before committing
The new bite is built in provisional restorations first and worn. That period is where problems surface: an uncomfortable contact, a change in speech, an appearance that is not right. All of those are far better discovered in a provisional than in finished ceramics.
Reconstruction after unsuccessful treatment
A significant part of this work is correcting dentistry done elsewhere. That is not a comment on other dentists. Complex reconstruction is genuinely difficult, which is exactly why it is a recognised specialty with three additional years of training behind it.
